After having faced lots of controversies in the past few months, the Bollywood movie Padmaavat (earlier titled Padmavati) directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is all set to be released throughout the country on Thursday 25th January 2018. Supposedly based on a fictional poem titled “Padmavat” written by Malik Muhammad Jayasi, this movie stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh in the leads.

The plot of this movie is based on the folklore surrounding a beautiful Rajput Queen Padmavati (Deepika Padukone) who was married to the King of “Mewar” Maharawal Ratan Sen (Shahid Kapoor). Complications arise in the blissful married life of the Rajput royal couple, when a Turko-Afghan ruler named Alauddin Khaliji (Ranveer Singh) infatuated by the beauty of  Padmavati attacks the Kingdom of Mewar. Comprising of opulent sets and costume designs (a trademark of Bhansali’s movie making) this movie is all set to explode on to the silver screen in a few days. The background score is composed by Sanchit Balhara while, the music has been composed by Bhansali himself. Furthermore, the soundtrack consists of six songs of which “Ghoomar” sung by Shreya Ghosal and Swaroop Khan has become quite popular with people around the country. In addition, the entire Padmaavat music album was officially released on 21st January 2018.

This movie numerologically renamed “Padmaavat”  having survived a rough few months, is now finally on the verge of release, and so here is hoping that this opulent Bhansali production hits the “jackpot” at the box office, a feat which his previous magnum opus “Bajirao Mastani” managed to achieve in 2015.
