It is Christmas time and the “perfectionist” Aamir Khan (as is the norm with the actor) is back with a new film directed by Nitish Tiwari called “Dangal” which means “wrestling competition”. Based on the life of an Indian amateur wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat this movie is certainly one of most “highly anticipated” movies in the Hindi movie industry in 2016.
The plot of this movie is based on a real life story of an Indian wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat (Aamir Khan) who happens to train his daughters Geeta Phogat (Fatima Sana Shaikh) and Babita Kumari (Sanya Malhotra) in professional wrestling that too in a society that is essentially patriarchal . The music of this movie based on wrestling and empowering of women has been composed by the reliable Pritam, and lyrics written by the classy and in demand Amitabh Bhattacharya. In addition, the title song “Dangal” has been sung by the “King of Punjabi Pop Music” Daler Mehndi.
So with this movie on the verge of release, and the anticipation surrounding this movie having reached its peak here is hoping that it not only does well at the box office but, also successfully manages to spread the message of “the importance of empowering women” in our society that clearly still does not understand it.
